Vintage, purchased in Northern Italy.

Size: H21 x W20 x D11cm

Behind these Sicilian ceramic sculptures lies an ancient legend of love and jealousy. A young woman fell in love with a Moorish man, but when she discovered he was to leave her for his homeland and family, passion took a dark turn. She cut off his head and planted basil in it – so he would stay with her forever.

Since then, Testa di Moro has become a symbol of eternal love, drama, and beauty – a story captured in clay and glaze.
